Support

Pausing and ending

There is no minimum term and no lock-in, and stopping is a conversation rather than a fight. How much notice your agreement asks for is the one thing to check before you act on any of this.

What happens when the engagement ends?

The code, the accounts, and the documentation are already yours, so there is nothing to pry loose. Wind-down and the notice period run per your agreement, and we will introduce you to whoever is picking it up next if that helps.

We would rather you leave cleanly and speak well of us than stay because leaving is painful.

Can I pause, and what happens to support while I am paused?

Yes. Build work pauses at a monthly boundary, not mid-month, so there is never a half-paid month with half-finished work in it.

Live Mode is the piece to think about before you pause it, because pausing it means nobody is watching the app. It needs notice to stop, and your agreement says how much. If you want to pause building but keep something watching production, that is the common choice and it is the one we would suggest.

Can I hire my own developer and take over?

Yes, and we will help rather than drag it out. We onboard them, they get the repository, and we walk them through the architecture.

If you want a safety net while they get up to speed, we can stay on at the monitoring level of Live Mode and step back once they are comfortable. This is a normal, healthy outcome and it happens.

What is in a handoff?

Documentation, runbooks for the operational tasks, the test suite, an architecture walkthrough, and time with whoever is taking over. If the test suite is not there yet, building it to our standard is part of the handoff rather than something you inherit the absence of.

The point is that the next person can work without calling us. If a handoff leaves them dependent on us, we did it badly.

Can I come back later?

Yes. Plenty of founders step away while they raise, hire, or rethink, and come back when the timing is right.

The monitoring level of Live Mode is the cheapest way to keep the door open, because it means someone still notices if the app falls over while you are away.
