These are critical questions we ask at the beginning of any project and throughout the process to ensure we've stayed on track. Simon Sinek's concept ‘Start with Why’ has become a mantra in our office and a springboard for our product strategy.
For the past 8 years, we've been helping organizations, individuals, and teams serve up high-quality ultra-modern applications for the mobile age.
We’re a smart, rowdy, byte-sized group of pixel-slingers from the midwest. No Egos, A-holes, or BS. If you're looking for passive execution from a robotic team, we're not for you.
Software can be messy and unpredictable. Every project will have bumps in the road. It’s how people respond in those moments that define a team and a true partner. We do the right thing, especially when it’s the hard thing. That’s where authentic trust comes from and you can’t do your best work without it.
We don’t always have to agree. In fact, it’s better if we don’t. Conflicting views are a welcome and essential part of any team looking to do their best work. The key is creating an environment grounded deeply in respect, where people are encouraged to speak, free to fail, and valued as people.
We’re not a design firm, dev shop, or UX agency. We’re a studio with the perfect blend of these skills with killer project management to boot. It all starts at the top, with each of the Eight Bit Co-Founders having passion for their area of expertise. This isn't a company run by people without hands-on software experience. Everyone at Eight Bit Studios is a maker.
Our love for the Chicago fermented into a weekly podcast called Bytes Over Bagels. From startups, to fund managers, to policy makers and serial entrepreneurs, we are covering the pulse of the Chicago tech scene. Promoting brands and Chicago music, our audience has grown to thousands of listeners in Chicago and around the world.
We are passionate about education and continuing to grow and retain talent in Chicago within the development community. Our Principal of Technology Don Bora is also Co-Founder and Chief Facilitator, leading iOS courses, at Mobile Makers Academy. They provide an 8 week course for learning how to create iOS applications in Chicago.
Project Managers are the unsung heroes of many teams. We’re trying to change that both through our products and how we communicate. Our studio helped launch a Chicago area Meetup for Digital Project Managers. (Almost named Cat Herders Anonymous.)
With the release of iOS, Apple changed the programming world as well as the path of Eight Bit Studios. This Meetup allows us to connect with other iOS enthusiasts from seasoned veterans to curious amateurs.
